DENTAID’s training division, Aula DENTAID, attracted over 1,500 hygienists from all over Spain to different sessions addressing “Updates in paediatric dentistry: how to prevent oral disease from childhood to adolescence.”
These sessions, given by paediatric dentists, focused on the characteristics of the mouth at children’s different stages of growth, and the dental care that may be needed in each phase, as well as how to prevent problems in oral development from birth until all permanent teeth have erupted.
In addition, special emphasis was placed on the management of the child's behaviour at the dental clinic, as well as on recommendations for the prevention of different oral pathologies. Caries, gingivitis and incisor-molar hypomineralisation are three of the main reasons for children’s visits to the paediatric dentist.
Caries in children up to age 12 is one of the most common infectious diseases and is a public health problem that affects over 40% of children.
