The XVII Course on Methodology in Research into Periodontology and Dental Implants was recently held at the University of Oviedo’s School of Dentistry, a national reference meeting in terms of dental research. 

Directed by doctors and professors Alberto Sicilia and Jose Mª Tejerina, and with the participation of 12 experts in different subjects, the Methodology Course on Research into Periodontology and Dental Implants takes place every two years. So, DENTAID has been committed to periodontology research at universities for over three decades. 

The main focus of the XVII edition of the course was the development of new technologies intended to improve knowledge of the aetiology of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, and which make for better control and more specific management in daily practice situations at the clinic. 

A total of 138 researchers attended this meeting which welcomed students enrolled in periodontology master's programmes at different universities in Galicia, Asturias, the Basque Country, Catalonia, Valencia, Madrid, Murcia, Seville and Granada. 

Over the 30 years that this course has been held, many researchers have presented their protocols and research at each of the editions, and thanks to this, progress is being made today in terms of quality and rigor in the world of periodontics, thereby contributing to the improvement of people’s oral health.
