Press Release

To mark World Oral Health Day (March 20th), Dentaid, an expert oral health company, presents the practical guide 10 Keys to Oral Health Later in Life, which offers clear recommendations for integrating oral care into daily routines in later years.

The world’s population is undergoing a profound demographic shift driven by increased life expectancy. According to the United Nations, by the mid-2030s there will be 265 million people aged 80 or older—more than the number of babies under one year of age. By the late 2070s, the global population aged 65 and over is projected to reach 2.2 billion, surpassing the number of people under 18.(1)

In this context, oral health is a key component of healthy longevity due to its close connection with nutrition, speech, social interaction, and overall well-being.

“As people live increasingly longer lives, oral health can no longer be considered secondary. Taking care of our mouths is an essential part of well-being and quality of life. With this ten-point guide, we aim to provide simple, practical recommendations for everyday life,” explains Dr. Marta Larrea, dentist and Global Medical Lead at Dentaid.

The guide is grounded in accessible information and a European clinical perspective, aligned with initiatives such as the Oral Health Throughout Life campaign promoted by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP).
