The role of oncology nursing is essential in improving the quality of life of patients undergoing cancer treatment, especially in the case of those receiving head and neck radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.
One of the side effects suffered by these patients is xerostomia, a condition that causes considerable discomfort in the mouth, such as difficulty chewing, swallowing and phonation, dysgeusia, pasty mouth on awaking, and burning mouth.
In addition, the decrease in saliva favours the onset of mucositis, gingivitis, painful ulcerations, local infections due to candidiasis, cracked lips, halitosis, carious lesions and dental sensitivity.
With the aim of reaching all medical staff who treat these patients, dentaid® Xeros will be present at the 17th National Congress and 1st International Congress of the SEEO.
dentaid® Xeros will present its wide range of products whose focus is to moisturise the mouth and stimulate the natural production of saliva, thus guaranteeing oral care in patients with xerostomia and improving their quality of life.
