When dealing with a patient diagnosed with dental hypersensitivity (DH), we should advise a series of preventive and therapeutic measures that can resolve the condition and prevent it from perpetuating. The dietary measures, oral hygiene and correction of habits explained in the previous article are extremely important for achieving this. To support outpatient treatment, we offer a wide range of products under the Desensin® brand, offering different possibilities depending on individual needs.
Toothpaste & mouthwash Dual, intensive, desensitising and restorative action from the very first application thanks to its complete formulation
• Potassium nitrate: inhibits pain thanks to the action of potassium on the nerve endings.
• Fluoride in the form of sodium monofluorophosphate, with a concentration of 1,450 ppm in the paste: helps to remineralise the enamel and the dentin
• Hydroxyapatite nanoparticles: help strengthen the enamel, but most importantly act on exposed dentinal tubules open to the oral environment, as they occlude them, reducing the chance that external stimuli might trigger pain. Combined use of the toothpaste and mouthwash has shown the best results of nanoparticle deposition in laboratory studies(1). Active ingredients aimed at strengthening gums and antioxidants such as vitamin E, allantoin and provitamin B5. These products are recommended for all ages.
Toothpaste & mouthwash Progressive desensitising and anti-caries action with extra fluoride
• The big advantage of the toothpaste is the increased concentration of fluoride in the form of sodium fluoride, with a concentration of 2,500 ppm.
• This gives the formula a superior anti-caries effect for high-risk patients. Remember that the use of topical fluoride in daily oral hygiene is the best way to prevent caries in adults.
• Older people with salivary disorders and exposed tooth necks may be good candidates for this type of product.
Fast acting gel Quick, localised desensitising action
• Contains 5% potassium nitrate with a concentration of 2,500 ppm of fluoride.
• May be applied topically in areas that require rapid pain relief.
• This topical application allows for use any time, anywhere.
