The main aetiological factor is the build-up of biofilm, or bacterial plaque, arising from deficient or infrequent oral hygiene. The accumulation of biofilm and its dysbiosis produces an inflammatory reaction of the tissues surrounding the teeth—the periodontium—and can cause its destruction. The development of this disease is, thus, the main cause of loss of teeth or implants.
These diseases must be treated at the dental clinic. Controlling bacterial plaque through the use of antiseptics during treatment and in the period thereafter is essential to ensure treatment success. In addition, in the case of surgical periodontal treatment it is essential to ensure proper wound healing and to prevent infection.
Perio·Aid contains two synergistic antiseptics: Chlorhexidine (CHX) and Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC). Thanks to this combination, Perio·Aid provides maximum efficacy in the control of periodontal pathogens.
The Perio·Aid product range is made up of Perio·Aid 0.12 Treatment, Perio·Aid 0.05 Maintenance & Control and Perio·Aid 0.20 Bioadhesive Gel.
Its main indication is as an adjunct to periodontal or peri-implant treatment.
In addition, it is indicated for persons showing excessive bacterial plaque formation, in patients at risk of gingival inflammation, and even in situations that do not allow effective brushing, such as in persons with limited mobility.
Available in the form of mouthwash, spray and gel.
Mainly recommended for daily control of bacterial plaque, helping to prevent the development or recurrence of periodontal or peri-implant diseases.
May be used long-term with minimum side effects.
It is recommended for those with gingivitis and those belonging to risk groups, such as diabetics, those with cardiovascular disease, or those with a weakened immune system.
This gel is indicated after surgery of the oral cavity: periodontal or peri-implant surgery, dental extractions, after implant placement, etc.
It is formulated with chlorhexidine 0.20%, panthenol 5% and hyaluronic acid, thanks to which it performs 5 actions:
- Antiseptic
- Regenerative
- Repairing/Healing
- Anti-Inflammatory
- Long-Acting Bioadhesive
In essence, this gel provides better, faster healing of damaged oral tissues, in addition to preventing infection of the affected area.
