Its removal is key in preventing the development of diseases that may be caused by its accumulation. However, interproximal cleaning is not always performed properly, due, in part, to the difficulty to use the product correctly.
To solve these problems, DENTAID has launched a new generation of Interprox® brushes, whose main improvement is its ease and comfort of use and its ability to access all interdental spaces.
It is important to choose the right size for each interproximal space. The brush should be inserted tightly, so that the filaments and not the wire are in contact with the teeth. Otherwise, if too small of a brush is chosen, it will pass through very loosely and not be able to properly sweep away biofilm or food debris, as there will be no friction with the sides of the teeth.
Interprox® offers a wide line of brushes ranging from 0,6 mm to 2,1 mm PHD (passage hole diameter). Each PHD size represents the smallest space through which the brush can pass and corresponds to a specific colour for easy identification. This colour code does not necessarily equivalent between brands.
Sometimes it may be necessary to use antiseptics in the interproximal areas. These situations require the use of Interprox® gel, which contains CPC (a daily-use antiseptic) designed for application to interproximal spaces with the help of Interprox® brushes. The use of Interprox® brushes together with Interprox® gel has been proven to improve gingival and periodontal indices(1).
For areas in which use of interproximal brushes is not possible due to limited interproximal space, DENTAID offers the VITIS® line of dental flosses and tapes, and Waterpik® oral irrigators for people who need additional cleaning.
