News for dentistry professionals
To measure the impact of oral disease on the well-being of a person, there are several specific tools, but one of the most commonly used is the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP), which is discussed in the “Research update” section where the way oral diseases affect the quality of life of patients is also explained.
Without a doubt, it is essential to have a healthy mouth to lead a healthier life, and dental professionals can contribute to this end by helping their patients improve their oral health.
Along these lines, DENTAID represents one of the best allies, since it offers both professionals and patients an assortment of products that help prevent and treat various oral pathologies and disorders.
The “DENTAID Solutions” section introduces the DENTAID product portfolio and its contribution to improving people’s oral health, and thus their quality of life. “
Aula DENTAID” takes stock of the last course offered to dental hygienists by the company’s training area: “Update in paediatric dentistry: how to prevent oral disease from childhood to adolescence.” Thanks to this course, more than 1,500 professionals from all over Spain have been able to update their knowledge on how to help improve children’s oral health, a mission DENTAID contributes to through its new VITIS® children’s product range.
The Dental implant maintenance is the subject addressed in the section on “The hygienist’s viewpoint,” which explains how professionals and patients should perform this maintenance in order to lengthen the success time of implant treatment.
In this issue we are launching a new section, entitled “DENTAID Research Center,” dedicated to the work of DENTAID’s oral health research centre. The article focuses on various studies carried out by the DENTAID Research Center and presented at EuroPerio9. It is specifically two of these projects that are featured in the “Study” section, including ground-breaking research on the effect of the microorganism Solobacterium moorei on oral biofilm and its involvement in halitosis, and a study that has shown that it is possible to improve interproximal hygiene compliance through appropriate motivational techniques.
“The voice of SEPA” focuses on important news from the world of dentistry: the establishment of a new classification for periodontal and peri-implant diseases at a world workshop where North American and European experts, including several Spaniards, participated. In addition,
“The voice of SECIB” describes the main indications for periapical surgery, whose objective is to achieve periapical tissue regeneration.
Finally, “News” includes information on an important study of the treatment of mucositis in child oncohaematology patients in which DENTAID has participated, along with the benefits for diabetics of water flossing with Waterpik®.
In addition, we review the revolutionary properties of DENTAID technology hyaluronrepair, which is contained in Perio·Aid® Bioadhesive Gel, and DENTAID technology nanorepair® which has proven effective in combating dental hypersensitivity (Desensin® range) and to help restore the natural white of tooth enamel (VITIS® whitening).
We also give guidelines to identify patients with xerostomia, we discuss the effects of halitosis depending on age, and we offer a preview of the calendar of scientific congresses to which DENTAID will attend in the coming months.
