PERIO·AID^® BIOADHESIVE GEL 

Perio·Aid^® bioadhesive gel, with 0.20% chlorhexidine, and with hyaluronic acid and panthenol, is an oral gel with antiseptic properties that helps to repair and regenerate oral tissues, recommended after periodontal and/or peri-implant, surgical or other treatments, which, with its bioadhesive nature, favours the recovery of the oral mucosa. 

The bioadhesive gel should be applied locally on the surgically treated area after meals, once oral hygiene has been performed. It has been shown to prevent alveolar osteitis—or dry socket—after extractions, especially of mandibular third molars. 

The gel contains the antiseptic active ingredient chlorhexidine, with antibacterial and anti-plaque properties which act by limiting the build-up of biofilm and reducing the risk of bacterial infections, in addition to reducing the inflammation produced in the gums and mucosa. 

Its formulation also contains hyaluronic acid, which helps repair and regenerate damaged oral tissues and fosters healing, along with panthenol (provitamin B5), which reduces gingival inflammation, stimulates tissue regeneration and aids recovery. The remaining excipients in the formulation, including the mucoadhesive polymer hydroxyethyl cellulose, confer it its bioadhesive nature which triggers the formation of a protective layer on the gums and mucosa, which helps to prevent the formation of biofilm, and prolongs the antiseptic effect of chlorhexidine over a longer period of time by allowing it to slowly be released on the wound.
