The toothbrush is the most important tool for mechanical control of oral biofilm (bacterial plaque). However, only 60% of the tooth surface can be cleaned by using a toothbrush.
The remaining 40% of the tooth surface pertains to the interproximal area, which offers favourable conditions for the accumulation of the oral biofilm responsible for various diseases and disorders, including tooth decay, halitosis, gingivitis, peri-implant mucositis, etc. Dental hygiene is not complete without good interproximal hygiene.
DENTAID is conscious of how important interproximal cleaning is and therefore offers you and your patients a wide range of solutions adapted to the needs of each person in order to achieve 100% complete dental hygiene. In this respect, Water flossing is a vital complement to toothbrushing.
Water flossers are a good choice after daily brushing, as they facilitate interproximal cleaning and are able to reach hidden subgingival areas.
Water flossing consists of the direct application of a pulsating stream of water or other solution which, along with toothbrushing, provides an extraordinary fresh, clean feeling. Waterpik® gets rid of 99.9% of dental biofilm ex vivo, by removing it from the surface of teeth, interproximal areas, gingival margin and hard-to-reach areas, thereby improving the health of the gums.
Water flossing is indicated for all patient types as a complement to brushing, to ensure premium daily oral hygiene results. It is particularly indicated for patients with special requirements:
• Orthodontic patients
• Dental implant patients
• Diabetics
• Periodontal patients
• Those who do not use or have difficulty using interproximal brushes or dental floss and tape.
