Dental
hypersensitivity is a transient pain syndrome derived from the exposure of the
dentin to external thermal, chemical or tactile stimuli, and that is not
associated with any other dental pathology.
The exposure of the dentin may occur
due to wear on the surface of the tooth (enamel) or a problem of gum
retraction.
Untreated
dental hypersensitivity may prevent proper oral hygiene due to the pain
brushing provokes and, consequently, lead to further more serious pathologies
such as caries and periodontal diseases.
Since
dental hypersensitivity is a very common problem that affects one in four
adults, its prevention and proper treatment, if it occurs, are essential.
Desensin®
is especially indicated to treat dental hypersensitivity as it has a
desensitising action that keeps the teeth and gums protected from external
stimuli such as cold, heat, acid or pressure, among others. /
