Now that the seventh edition of the EUROPERIO is over, and as President of the Meeting, what is your general impression of this event?
I am glad that we managed to organise a “EuroPerio“ which matched its predecessors’ high standards. A conference is successful once all attendees and the supporting industrial partners are satisfied with the provided contents. Considering the general response we have received thus far I believe that they were indeed to a great extent!
Did the outcome meet your initial expectations?
In general, we were aiming to draw level with the excellent outcome of the last EuroPerio in Stockholm. Naturally it was a pleasant surprise when submissions for posters and oral presentations surpassed the EP6 numbers by 50%. In the end we welcomed nearly 8000 attendees, which exceeded all of our expectations.
If you had to briefly define the key issues of the EUROPERIO7, what stands out for you, or what do you consider to be the most important issues?
Our aim always was to establish EuroPerio as the leading congress for periodontology world-wide in all areas: a congress for general dentists, DH, specialised periodontologists, and researchers. In other words, it is a meeting point of the global periodontal family!
If you had to choose a EUROPERIO7 moment, what would it be?
It certainly would be the inaugural address in front of more than 2500 people in the main room on the congress’ first day.
What ideas do you think the attendees were able to bring home from the EUROPERIO7?
They probably took along the friendly atmosphere among the attendees, the smooth ongoing of the programme on an excellent scientific level, and, not to forget, great social events in Vienna!
