DENTAID® nanorepair technology. What does this incredibly innovative change in the formula of DENTAID products mean?
Entering the field of nanotechnology is an important step forward for DENTAID. We continue to expand our product ranges. With the new DENTAID® nanorepair technology we can interact with tooth enamel and with dentin, acting directly on its surfaces, and achieving the desired effects: repair, whitening and protection.
For DENTAID, research and development is a core strategic concept. At what point does DENTAID plan to take the next step and incorporate such a revolutionary technology in its products?
Within a context of constant innovation in order to remain on the cutting edge of scientific research and taking into account the great advances of nanotechnology in general, at DENTAID we plan to start introducing nanomaterials to our formulas, in order to continue contributing to the improvement of oral health.
Why have you decided to work with hydroxyapatite nanoparticles?
Mainly because of several specific advantages described in the scientific literature, considering the possibility of meeting new goals that until now could not be achieved with conventional materials and compositions. Particularly, for the possibility of interacting directly with the tooth surface.
How are these nanoparticles made and how are they applied in the product preparation?
The nanoparticles are synthesized by the reaction of Calcium ions and Phosphate ions under controlled temperature, time and mixing conditions to ensure that the size of the particles is “nano”. Something that is essential is that if we do not have “nano” sized hydroxyapatite, it will not be able to interact with the tooth surfaces, and therefore, will not accomplish the initially established goals. These hydroxyapatite nanoparticles are added to the toothpaste during its manufacturing process, using an advanced mixing system that guarantees its uniform distribution through the entire product. Therefore, any bit of the product will have the quantity needed of nanoparticles, ultimately guaranteeing the desired effect.
How do the hydroxyapatite nanoparticles integrate with the enamel to repair and protect teeth from dental sensitivity and provide a whitening effect?
They integrate because of their “nano” size. The hydroxyapatite that we provide has the capability of interacting with the tooth’s natural hydroxyapatite, and therefore, of integrating uniformly with its surface. Then it forms a protective, wash-resistant layer of hydroxyapatite. This can only happen if the hydroxyapatite is “nano”, because of its high affinity to tooth enamel.
